San Diego events 2026 to 2027: where to stay
The big events coming to San Diego over the next year, and how the house fits each one. Nearly all of them are at the San Diego Convention Center downtown, which is about fifteen to twenty minutes south by car. The beach is a few blocks the other way.
Before you book
The house takes up to 4 adults
It sleeps 6: a king, a queen and two queen sofa beds. At most 4 of those can be adults, so a family or a small group fits and five adult friends do not. For a bigger group, our other house, Crown Point Jewell on Mission Bay, is a short drive away and takes up to 4 more adults.

When: October 16 to 18, 2026. Where: Mission Bay.
On Mission Bay, a short drive south of the house, and home afterwards to a quiet street.

Anesthesiologists annual meeting
When: October 16 to 20, 2026. Where: San Diego Convention Center. Expected: about 16,000 people.
Downtown is about fifteen to twenty minutes south by car. Fast fiber WiFi for the evening’s email, and the beach a few blocks the other way.

TCT cardiology conference
When: October 31 to November 3, 2026. Where: San Diego Convention Center. Expected: about 11,000 people.
A quiet base for conference week, on a residential street a few blocks from the sand.

When: November 13 to 15, 2026. Where: San Diego Convention Center. Expected: about 25,000 people.
Families, and small groups of up to 4 adults. Fast fiber WiFi, and a bonus room with its own TV.

When: November 27 to 29, 2026, over Thanksgiving weekend. Where: San Diego Convention Center. Expected: about 30,000 people.

When: December 12 to 16, 2026. Where: San Diego Convention Center. Expected: about 6,000 people.
A quiet December week, with the Christmas lights to drive round in the evenings.

San Diego International Auto Show
When: December 31, 2026 to January 3, 2027, over New Year’s. Where: San Diego Convention Center.
New Year’s by the beach. Holiday weekends need three nights, so look early.

Thoracic Surgeons and Lab Automation meetings
When: January 28 to February 3, 2027. Where: San Diego Convention Center. Expected: about 12,500 people.
Work-friendly: fast fiber WiFi, A/C in both bedrooms, and downtown about fifteen to twenty minutes away by car.

When: February 8 to 18, 2027, over Presidents’ Day weekend. Where: San Diego Convention Center. Expected: about 27,000 people.
For conference visitors, with Presidents’ Day weekend in the middle if the family wants to follow you down.

When: April 2 to 5, 2027, over spring break. Where: San Diego Convention Center. Expected: about 11,000 people.
Spring break: Tourmaline a few blocks away, and the La Jolla sea lions up the coast.

Where to stay for the big three
The ones people ask about most, with the dates, getting downtown and the questions worth asking before you book.
Getting downtown
About fifteen to twenty minutes south by car on an ordinary day. A big convention day is not an ordinary day.
- The trolley. The San Diego Trolley stops at the Convention Center. Driving to a station and riding the last stretch skips the downtown parking hunt entirely. Routes and times at MTS.
- A rideshare. The simplest door to door. The pickup spots by the Convention Center are a scrum at closing time, so walk a few blocks away from the crowd before you call a car.
- Driving in. Downtown parking fills early on show days. Reserve a garage space ahead if you can, and leave more time than the map says.
- At the house. One private driveway spot, plus street parking.
